St. Mark’s Haiti ProgramAt St. Mark’s, we believe our many local outreach efforts should be balanced with programs that also address international needs. Former rector, Father Craig Lister, launched St. Mark’s Haiti Program in 2000 after experiencing a successful partnership with a Haitian school and parish while serving at his previous church. Since the program’s initiation, St. Mark’s has enjoyed a special relationship with Fr. Rospignac Ambroise, the director of the St. Mathias church in Delandes, Haiti, and the families of his parish. For the last five years, St. Mark’s Episcopal Church has sponsored the school children of St. Mathias in Haiti through an annual fundraising drive. Our yearly contributions of $10,000 - $15,000 have helped to construct a new trade school and build a solid educational foundation for the children of this small village. Through the commitment and generosity of Mark’s parishioners and friends, over 300 children in Haiti are able to attend school for a full day, eat a nourishing meal, and study with new books. Our annual fundraising drive occurs in the spring of each year. Monetary donations of any amount are gratefully accepted and appreciated as we strive to do the Lord’s work for this worthy cause. |
