MusicThe purpose of the music program at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church is to offer praise to God through music and liturgy. Our music program reflects the enthusiasm and commitment of voices in two different choirs. The Adult Choir performs at the 10:45am church service and represents different levels of singing experience and vocal skill. The Junior Choir performs at the 9am church service and provides opportunities for children to gain singing skills and experience. The repertoire of both choirs includes a wide range of traditional well-loved hymns and anthems as well as more contemporary pieces and less familiar works. The Friends of Music Program is designed to open St. Mark’s church to a wider community through the sponsorship of special musical events. It also allows us to bring distinctive concerts and venues to people who live in the larger Metro-West area. Programs supported by Friends of Music donations range from choral and classical guitar concerts to jazz dinners and organ-accompanied theater performances. Participation in the program is broken down into five tiers:

The Friends of Music at Saint Mark’s Program accepts new members and donations year round.
Adult Choir
The Adult Choir performs weekly at the 10:45am church service, for special services during the Christmas and Easter seasons, and at selected concerts held throughout the year. Venues include traditional hymns and liturgical singing, as well as works accompanied by brass and timpani. The Adult Choir is a traditional SATB organization, and is open to any adult in St. Mark’s parish. Rehearsals are held on Thursdays from 7:15 – 8:30pm September through June.
Junior Choir
The Junior Choir is open to children in grades 3 and higher. No previous experience is required. Rehearsals are held on Sundays from 8:30-9am September through June. The choir performs regularly at the 9am service, and at other selected events during the year. Children wear colored ribbons to indicate the number of years they have participated in the choir.
